Woodworking Plans | Plans for a Woodwork Project

Any professional carpenter will tell you that a sure way to a successful project is to use woodworking plans. With a good set of plans you will save time and money and be sure that your woodworking will produce the promised result.

Your woodworking plans should include:

A full list of materials required: enabling you not only price the job but also buy all your timber and fixings in one visit to the supplier Step by step building instructions: walking you through the project in a logical and easy sequence Detailed illustrations: allowing you to see where you are up to and closely check your handiwork A list of tools required to complete the job

The amateur can really shine by using professional blueprints and turn their hobby into a self financing pastime, just check out the price of some of the rabbit hutches on Amazon!

Most sets of woodworking plans start from simple to make items such as a bird nesting boxes and tables, again these can be sold to raise cash for more advanced projects.

Some of the projects included in your woodworking plans should be more complicated such as the octagonal garden table and the ever popular garden shed.

Whether you are a professional carpenter or weekend hobbyist one set of good woodworking plans should last a lifetime.

Woodworking Ideas Plans and

Woodworking Ideas, Plans and Projects

After acquiring the basic tools the some amateur carpenters will struggle to come up with any woodworking ideas to get them started.

The answer is simply to get a set of plans; these will include a wide range of woodworking ideas for the hobbyist to tackle. Plans are available online at a fraction of the cost when compared to buying one blueprint for each project and can be as low as one cent per plan.

With a good set of plans to hand the novice can start small and work their way up as their skills and tool kit increase.

Garden projects are a good place to start and a hammer, saw and screwdriver will be enough to handle most jobs. Items such as bird nesting boxes and bird tables are always in demand and the timber required could be lying in the woodshed.

Take a look on Amazon at the price of a luxury dog kennel or rabbit hutch, these goods are well within the ability of your average handyman and any of these items can be sold to raise funds for bigger, more complicated jobs and more woodworking tools (the wood turning lathe has to be the ultimate goal).

Your woodworking plans should include:
โขย ย  ย An itemised index โ with enough Woodworking Ideas to last a lifetime.
โขย ย  ย A full list of wood and fixtures - with this information you can work out your costs and buy your timber and hardware with just one visit to your supplier.
โขย ย  ย Step by step instructions โ taking you through the project in logical stages.
โขย ย  ย Illustrations of each stage of construction โ so that you double check your progress visually and check what your Woodworking Ideas should look like.

1. Lighten up
'An instant garden update for an urban garden is lighting,' says Jon Holloway from the Garden Trading Company. 'In the early evening, clever lighting sets the scene and shows off the space. If it's well lit it helps the whole environment.' Check out the Set of 3 Fishing Lights now reduced from ยฃ80 to ยฃ25 from Garden Trading Company.

2. All together
'For the best impact, group bigger pots in varying sizes and odd numbers,' says Julie Humphreys, from garden specialist Crocus. 'Choose evergreen plants for all year interest or ones that have a long flowering season.' Try these Bell jar pots (ยฃ129.99) from Crocus.

3. Eat outdoors
'Keep your purse strings tied - only spend money on things you can take with you,' says Nigel Leck, of Property Presentation Services. Holloway adds, 'You can store good quality bistro furniture away out of sight for the winter. A combination of metal and wood is good. The problem with just metal in an urban environment is that the air can be quite acidic and furniture can look quite grim and stained quite quickly.' Solve the problem with folding wood furniture like this Lapalm round table - ยฃ39, reduced from ยฃ99 - from The Pier.

4. Twitcher's game
'Estate agents advise sellers to dress their homes for viewings,' says Siddeley, 'and in the same way people should dress their gardens.' Charm visitors with welcome wildlife. The Eva Solo bird nesting box (ยฃ35) from John Lewis comes with four different size entrances so you choose which of your favourite birds makes it their home.

5. Water world
'If outside space is restricted, work really hard to make the most of every inch' says Charlie Comber of estate agents Hayman-Joyce. Create a focal point in your garden with a water feature, like this Mosaic solar powered (ยฃ74) find from Amazon.

6. Quick fix
'Planting herbs is another great way to update a garden,' says Holloway. 'Use nice simple containers.' To increase chances of a speedy sale why not try this Large ceramic pot and base (ยฃ5) from the Garden Trading Company. Fill your garden with the scent of herbs.

7. Scrapheap challenge
'Excess junk, debris and garden rubbish is an absolute no when selling a property,' says Roly Peto from Property Vision. This handwoven garden tidy (ยฃ59.95) from Crocus is ideal for hiding unsightly objects such as wheelie bins but also gives a rustic country feel to even the most urban of gardens.

8. Rock garden
Think outside the box and add extras to your garden. Try these outdoor 15W wireless speakers (ยฃ119) from I Want One of Those, to bring your sounds outside discretely. With a range of up to 100 metres, they're the ultimate accessory for a 21st Century garden.

9. Reflections
'Clever use of mirrors and ornamental arrangements of flower beds enhance a garden,' says Robert Bailey of Robert Bailey Property. Even if your outside space is teeny weeny, there's a lot you can do. This Mirror - Illusion window (ยฃ109.95) from Crocus creates the impression of space by appearing to be an open window looking into another part of the garden.

10. Fruitful
'For plants that have an instant impact, any fruit trees are good,' advises Holloway. 'Fig trees are nice, because they look great up against a wall and the figs are edible too.' Fill your garden with edible goodies for an instantly inviting look with this 'fig carica' (ยฃ39) from Not on the High Street.

Bird Netting to Deter Pest

Bird Netting to Deter Pest Birds

One of the most effective ways to deter pest birds is through the use of bird netting.

ย

Growers and farmers have discovered that this is a great way to keep cornfields, fruit orchards and vineyards from being ravaged.ย  For example, lightweight plastic mesh netting is ideal for protecting fruit trees, blueberry bushes, gardens, vineyards, eaves and more from pest birds. This netting is virtually invisible, available in large sizes, and easy to work with. Better bird netting is U.V. protected to last longer. Lightweight bird netting can also be used as a temporary barrier to block birds from getting into storage garages, barns and warehouses.

ย

Installing Bird Netting

ย

There are a variety of ways to install lightweight bird netting. For fruit trees, vegetable gardens, blueberry bushes and grape vines, the netting should be suspended. When draping over a fruit tree, measure the circumference of the tree and cut the net so that you are left with at least one foot extra. You should then secure the netting with twine, zip ties, or hogย rings.

ย

For blueberry bushes and grape vines, suspend the netting over the bush or vine and allow at least 6 inches of space. This will prevent pest birds from sitting on the net and poking their heads and beaks through the net to get at your fruit. One common way to suspend the netting over the bush or vine is to use a series of poles placed around the perimeter.ย If you want to protect vegetable gardens, you can either wrap the individual plants in netting or suspend the netting around the entire garden. Finally, to keep pest birds out of eaves and similar open spaces, the best lightweight bird netting comes with handy clips. You can also use a staple gun to secureย the netting around the perimeter.

ย

Heavy-Duty Bird Netting

ย

For larger more demanding applications, there's heavy-duty bird netting. This netting is constructed of strong polyethylene and is typically used to block pest birds from entering air hangars, garages, factories, warehouses, canopies and other large areas. The best netting is this category is usually a U.V. resistant mesh, meets ISO 1806 mesh test standards and comes with a long guarantee--10 years. Some heavy-duty bird netting is rot proof, waterproof, flame resistant and sub-zero stable. This netting is available in various sizes and custom cuts and is preferred by architects. Heavy-duty bird netting should be installed properly or it will sag or droop. This can create gaps that birds can squeeze through. For best results, a cable should be set up around the perimeter of the netted area, and the net should then be attached to this cable.

ย

Bat Netting

ย

If your facility or property is troubled by bats, you can get bat netting. This bird netting is 3/8" mesh and is typically available in 10'x10', 25'x25', and 50'x50' sizes. It will block bats from getting into eaves, attics, garages, and similar areas. The best bat netting is made from a strong polyethylene mesh, and carries a long guaranteeโas long as 10 years. Bat netting is installed much like most heavy-duty bird netting. Once a perimeter cable is set up, the net is secured to this cable and pulled taught around all edges to close up any gaps.

ย

Why You Need Bird Netting

ย

You don't have to be a grower or vintner to appreciate the value of bird netting. Facilities managers and building owners know that pest birds can invade their property, causing extensive damage to courtyards, patios, storage yards and other open areas.

ย

One big problem with pest birds is their droppings. These pose a serious health hazard, since it's well known birds can carry any of 60 diseases. Bird nests and the mites that attach themselves to their feathers compound the problem. Feral pigeons, for example have been known to carry a bacterium that causes Salmonellosis. Pigeons can also carry Ornithosis, a disease that resembles viral pneumonia. Bird netting is the effective barrier deterrent that can keep out these disease carrying pests.

Airport managers know that pest birds can be a major headache in aircraft hangars. Facilities managers realize that when birds gather in eaves, canopies, support beams and other large open areas, bird droppings and nesting debris can end up in engines and delicate aviation parts and assemblies. What's more, when bird droppings fall onto the smooth floors in hangars, they can create serious slip-and-fall hazards. Bird netting is an effective deterrent that can prevent pest birds from nesting in these areas.

ย

In general, most building owners, whether private or public, will suffer from the invasion of pest birds. For example, bird droppings and nests can block gutters, drain pipes, and vents. They can jam up turbine ventilators, block light sensors, obscure security cameras, and ruin solar panels. Pest bird nests can also create ideal conditions for starting fires, as their dry twig and feathers make ideal kindling. Again, bird netting can keep out many of the birds that create these problems.

ย

Finally, food processors, packagers and other food intensive areas can suffer dearly from pest birds. Health inspectors visiting these facilities don't look kindly at pest bird infestations in these areas. They know that bird droppings can create all sorts of health hazards for foods being processed and readied for shipment. Birds can also eat into packaged products in loading docks and warehouses. Bird netting can keep pest birds out of these sensitive areas.

Opening 1000 Birds nests Tree

Friday 19 October 2007 : As I said in my previous video when I opened 500 bird's nests, I waited before opening my nests until I collect 1000 of them (tree seeds). Today, I finally achieved that :) Here are some impressive pictures of other previous rewards from KM (I used to wait longtime before collecting the resources) : img262.imageshack.us img215.imageshack.us img215.imageshack.us img53.imageshack.us img523.imageshack.us img412.imageshack.us For any question about the Kingdom Management, please read this : www.runescape.com Also please don't post comments or questions about the prices and the money I've made from those seeds. I sold most of the high-lvl seeds before the release of GE, and I don't remember how much I've made from it nor the prices at this time. (I actually wasn't really caring about money). To the people who think it's a fake or from a private server : look at the date. Since that time, Runescape's display and graphics have been updated.. Spring Time In Your Birding

Spring Time "In Your Birding Sanctuary" Can Be Exciting

In the Spring time, all kinds of birds are scrambling to make a bird nest suitable for their young and the females are anxious to lay their eggs.ย  My family and I are excited as a female Bluebird just laid its first egg in a bluebird House near our shed.ย  Our Blue Bird House is unique because it has doors on both sides and one side is completely plexiglassed, making nest observing easy and safe for children and adults of all ages.

Do you have all your nest boxes up and ready for the birds to move in?ย  There is a huge cavity shortage for the birds.ย  As large old trees are cut down and logged to make room for building developments, the cavity dwelling birds, such as bluebirds, are having trouble finding suitable nesting locations.

A well designed and place bluebird house is essential in attracting blue birds to your yard.ย  The overall dimensions should be approximately 5"w x 5"d x 16"h with the entrance hole of 1.5" in diameter.ย ย  The nesting box should be 3 to 6 feet off the ground.ย  Ventilation holes on the top and bottom of the Bluebird house allows fresh air to circulate keeping the nest dry.

At our house, we have placed several bird houses of all sizes around our property.ย  We have been able to attract many different song birds over the years.ย  We only use black oil sunflower seeds in our bird feeders, which most songbirds love.ย  We found that bird seed mixes that contains millet, milo or cracked corn only attract big ugly birds and the song birds won't even eat it.

So, if your bird nesting boxes are not ready to be used, get out there and get them ready!

The Bird Bath House is owned by Stair Enterprises, LLC, a family owned business since 2009. We love the outdoors and value every moment we can immerse ourselves in it. Our goal is to create a shopping experience that would be easy and fun for our customers who adore their feathered visitors as much as we do. We want to share our knowledge with our customers in order for them to be successful at attracting birds to their garden or patio area.

How To Prevent Swallows From

How To Prevent Swallows From Building Nests On Your Home And Commercial Buildings

Here come the Swallows, it must be spring.ย  Each year these beautiful birds begin to build their mud nests on our buildings, barns, homes and other areas like bridges.ย  The eave of your home provides the perfect nest building spot for swallows; providing protection form the elements and predators. ย Each year homeowners are plagued with swallow nests and the mess and debris they bring with them.

It is worth noting that in the United States, all swallows are classified as migratory insectivorous birds under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918.ย  Swallows are also protected by state regulations.ย  Once the birds have begun to build their nests it is too late to get rid of them.ย  Control methods should be enacted before the swallows return.ย  This will guard against potential fines for disturbing nests or injuring the birds.

Nesting Sites:

Swallows will usually build their nests in a nice shady spot such as under the eaves of a home, bridge or overpasses, and other areas with right angles to the walls.ย ย  The swallows will choose a wall texture that is easy to "stick" their nesting material to such as wood, stucco, masonry and concrete.

Damage:

Swallows like to nest in colonies thus causing a large problem for building and homeowners.ย  Thousands of dollars of damage is caused each year from their droppings and nesting debris.ย  Not only is the droppings left behind by swallows unsightly, it can be hazardous; carrying diseases that can be transmitted to humans.ย  The nests will eventually fall to the ground where there is a chance that the bugs, fleas, ticks and mites found in them can spread to domestic animals such as dogs and cats.

How to Deter:

Exclusion is the best method of deterring pest swallows.ย  You must make it impossible for the birds to build their nests.ย  There are several methods of exclusion that can be used.

Bird Netting: A plastic netting with a 3/4 " mesh can be hung from the outer edge of the eave of the home down to the side of the wall creating a 45 degree angle.ย  This will keep the swallows from getting into the favored sheltered space under the eaves of homes and buildings to build their nests.ย  Note: Install the netting before the swallows arrive.ย  It may be left up all year or taken down after the nesting season. Bird Spikes: Installing plastic or stainless steel birds spikes at the junction where the wall meets the home keep the swallows from getting a foothold on the wall and attaching their nesting material.ย  Bird spikes are easy to install using adhesive or screws. Slippery Panel: There are products available that create a smooth surface under the eave of your home so that the swallows are not able to "stick" their nesting material to it. ย These products are generally made of a PVC plastic that is attached under the eave with adhesive. Creating a slick surface on the nesting walls will discourage the birds and they will look elsewhere to find a good nesting spot. Swallow Guard (No Nasty Nest) is anew product on the market that uses a fine clear wire attach to a clear Plexiglas base that is ready to adhere to the eaves of your home or business.ย  The swallows will not fly through this "distraction" and therefore not build their nest in areas protected by swallow guard.

NOTE: Do not use a sticky gel to deter Swallows.ย  The gel should only be use for ledges where birds land, not walls.

The best advise to keep swallows off of your home or commercial building is to do something before the swallows arrive.ย  Put up netting, bird spikes, slippery panels or other means of deterring nest building before the swallows begin to build.ย  Once the birds arrive and start building their nests, it is nearly impossible to get rid of them.ย  Some will try to hose down the nests at they are being built to no avail.ย  The swallows are tenacious birds and will just keep building and building if the spot is ideal for them. You must also be aware of the laws that protect these birds; you do not want to be fined!
